Resort Focus – Val Thorens
Here at Glacius we are often asked what destination is the best bet for early snow? While we can’t make any guarantees about the weather, it’s pretty obvious that the higher you go the more chance of snow! Here we take a look Val Thorens the highest of all the resorts in the French Alps.
Why Val Thorens?
The top of it’s slopes reach 3230m making it the highest point in the Three Valleys, the snow area is almost always good!
What’s on this winter in Val Thorens?
There’s a full events programme you can check out here but highlights include the Ski Force Winter Tour which runs from 23-24 November, the Rock On Snowboard Tour that runs from 30 November – 1 December and the FIS Ski Cross World Cup from the 12-15 December to name but a few.
How’s the après?
There’s plenty of bars and eateries but if you are looking for something a little more special, the resort is actually home to the youngest Michelin star chef in France. Jean Sulpice put Val Thorens on the map as a high altitude gastronomic hot spot.
Who goes to Val Thorens?
The runs are suitable for intermediate to advanced leisure skiers. It’s an accessible resort which has been well established over 40 plus years which is most likely why it continues to be popular with families and school groups.
