Overview

Swiss ski resorts are amongst the most picturesque in the world;
they ooze Alpine charm, many have car-free village centres, there
are often some wonderful boutiques, restaurants and bars, and in
the Jungfrau region, there is a magical old cogwheel mountain
railway.
It was in Switzerland that the sport of skiing developed in the 19th
century, and also up and until the 1980’s, whereupon the French,
Austrian and Italian resorts started being competitive.
Taking the currency exchange factor away, Switzerland. In our
opinion, offers the best skiing in the world. The scenery on offer is
as dramatic as can be found in Europe, the resorts are mainly
charming (and not purpose built) traffic free towns, the restaurants
are wonderful, the apres can be as big as anywhere else and the
skiing is simply divine, whether that be corduroy pistes or epic
powder fields. .
There is no denying however that with the Swiss Franc’s strength
against the pound, the prices are high, especially in the big name
resorts. However, as well as the main spots, Glacius looks forward
to showing you a few secret gems, slightly off the beaten track,
that will blow your mind, not your budget!
Options vary from world-famous resorts such as Zermatt, to
smaller, less lively resorts like Wengen or the very underrated
Engelberg. Every resort is different, but magically unique in its own
way. All the resorts we feature however offer high-altitude, resorts
where snow is all but guaranteed.
Accommodation wise, the service and hospitality in Switzerland is
almost always incredibly efficient. Our carefully selected hotels
and range from traditional hotels which offer great value to
modern, 5* hotels with spa facilities and all other trimmings found
in the best hotels. Our chalets again range from mid-market
through to the wonderfully luxurious, as are the apartments.

Key Facts

France. Davos and Engelberg can be reached from Zurich airport in an hour.
Bern Airport is the main airport of the Swiss capital and is convenient for those, who plan to spend winter vacations at the resorts of Switzerland located in the south and east. Wengen can be reached from the Bern airport faster than from the overloaded Zurich.
Sion Airport

Getting around Switzerland

Train travel is by far the best way to travel in Switzerland. it is economical, the stations are clean and equipped with a variety of services, while the trains themselves are punctual, equally clean and comfortable.
