The Val d’Isère village is long and thin at the bottom of a deep v-shaped valley and is a resort we highly recommend for experts for the sole reason that so much off piste is available without the need to hike. Together with Tignes, the vast skiing area consists of 97 lifts, seven gondolas and three cable-cars, not to mention the two underground railways. Expect to find huge treeless powder fields, steep descents and tight chutes, long linking groomed trails , not forgetting gentle beginner areas. Seamless links into Tignes allow for serious miles to be clocked up if that is what you wish.
Other activities at Val d’Isere include snowmobiling, parasailing, helicopter tours, husky drawn sleigh rides and ice skating. Also on offer is cross country skiing, ice driving, snow shoeing, ice climbing and swimming.
Val d’Isere apres is lively with bars, pubs and nightclubs scattered throughout the village.
Dick’s Tea Bar kicks off the après ski drinks with live music and happy hour running from 3pm until 7pm. The disco starts at 10pm and the dancing doesn’t stop until after 4am.
Café Face is great spot for a drink on the way home with live music daily and theme nights throughout the winter season.
The packed English pubs Pacific Bar and the Saloon have happy hour every night and live bands and DJs.
Val d’Isere plays host to chalets of all shapes and sizes catering for every level of the market. Glacius, in partnership with hotels, property owners and property managers is able to offer a huge variety of chalet and hotel accommodation.
