Overview

The Fairmont Chateau is a truly ski in, ski out property located in the upper village at the base of Blackcomb. This hotel offers direct access to the slope. Whistler village sits only a seven minute walk long a forested path and a regular complimentary shuttle service runs from outside the hotel.

The hotel is large, with 528 rooms. It is constantly hustling and bustling. But for a family that wants luxury facilities, several dining options, and the convenience of being close to everything (including the ski school), few options make more sense. Children love the indoor/outdoor pool area, while adults can take advantage of the recently renovated gym, full service bar and wonderful wooden barrel saunas. There’s also a pool with four large hot tubs.

A ski concierge service is provided as well, taking the strain from Mum & Dad at the start and finish of each day.

The Fairmont offers a number of various rooms, starting with the Fairmont Room and Deluxe rooms, (each have king or two queen bed options). Many of the rooms are interconnecting to ensure complete flexibility for families. One and two bedrooms suites are available facing the slopes or the valley – both of which have tremendous views.

A point worth noting is that some of the hotel rooms are branded ‘Fairmont Gold’, meaning that they are more spacious rooms, have gas fireplaces, larger bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs as well as a private check in. Gold members also have exclusive access to the Fairmont Gold concierge and Gold Lounge (which offers complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and apres ski appetizers). If you are looking for some added privacy and exclusivity, then the small premium on the Gold rooms is well worth it.

The hotel has a number of dining options. The Wildflower is the go-to spot for a hearty breakfast. The Grill Room, Whistler’s on-site restaurant destination for chops, steak and seafood, offers an exceptional standard of cuisine in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Market & Fresh Bakery, Portobello, offers made to order fare and a speciality coffee bar, while the comfortable apres-ski Mallard Lounge provides fabulous views and a low-key atmosphere for light meals and cocktails. The Mallard Lounge is popular with the locals with live music performed most evenings. It is also the venue for Fairmont Fridays – a popular apres ski spot where you can sit around the fire pits and watch the sun fall behind the mountains from the heated terrace.

For a genuine winter dining experience, The Chalet offers an intimate winter fondue menu and optional horse-drawn sleigh ride.

Description: Located on floors 3-5, the Fairmont rooms come with king or queen beds with down duvets. The room features standard hotel facilities such as Satellite TV, tea/coffee making, safe, ironing board and a small seating area. The private marble bathroom has bathrobes, hair dryer and complimentary toiletries. These rooms also feature upper village or beautiful woodland views.

Deluxe View Room

Description: These Deluxe rooms are located on the higher levels of the hotel and, as such, have fantastic views of Whistler Valley, Rainbow Mountain or the surrounding woodland. Each room comes with one king or two queen beds and also features a comfortable lounge area perfect for relaxing after a day on the slopes. The private three-piece marble bathroom has bathrobes, hair dryer and complimentary toiletries. The room includes all standard hotel amenities you would expect.

Deluxe Slopeside Room

Description: These rooms are the same as the Deluxe Valley rooms but offer exceptional views of the Blackcomb Mountain slopes instead. Junior Valley View Suite

Description: This Junior Suites have one king bed in a private bedroom (separated by sliding doors) and a parlour/lounge area. The Junior Suites boast stunning woodland terrace views.

One-Bedroom Valley View Suite

Description: With plenty of space to relax, these suites are great for couples and families alike. There are two separate rooms, one master bedroom with an ensuite, and a lounge with comfortable sofas and a further bathroom. Two Bedroom Valley View Suite

Description: Great for large families who want to enjoy space, style and luxury, these two-bedroom gold suites feature a master king bedroom, a second queen room and room for children or extra guests on a sofa bed in the lounge. All of these rooms are subtly connected to allow everyone maximum privacy while still enjoyng each others’ company. There are three bathrooms with luxurious fittings and a large balcony leading off the lounge from which to enjoy the views of the surrounding valleys.

One Bedroom Mountain View Suite

Description: Located on the upper levels of the hotel, these luxury suites are great for couples and families wanting excellent views during their stay. The suite is split in two, with the master bedroom and ensuite separated from the living space with beautiful French doors. The lounge features comfortable chairs and sofas (including a double sofa bed) as well as a quaint Juliet balcony. This living space also includes a further half bathroom for extra convenience as well as all other hotel facilities you would expect.

Fairmont Gold

Fairmont Gold Junior Suite

Description: The Fairmont Gold Premier Suite allows guests to enjoy luxury, space and comfort. They have a private master bedroom with a stylish marble ensuite (included jetted tub, bathrobes etc) and a further lounge area which can be used to relax in. The lounge features a sofa bed (if required) as well as a gas fireplace, armchairs, coffee table and more. This area leads out onto a balcony from which you can take in the Rainbow Mountain or woodland views.

The Wildflower: The Wildflower provides a casual setting for both breakfast and dinner.

Portobello Market & Fresh Bakery: Located in the lower lobby, Portobello’s deli-style menu features fresh baked offerings, comfortable couches and a speciality coffee bar. Selections include freshly baked doughnuts and pastries, soups and sandwiches, pastas, pizza and vegetarian options.

The Wine Room: A warm, special room for that special occasion. Seasonal menus feature fresh, local ingredients.

The Mallard Lounge: A crackling fire fire, martini in hand and live entertainment – the perfect apres destination.

The Chalet: Offering a delicious three-course fondue dinner (cheese fondue with vegetables, followed by Fondue Chinoise (broth based) served with beef tenderloin, prawns and salmon). The perfect compliment to finish off dinner – a decadent chocolate fondue.
