Overview
Hotel Heliopic sits in a superb location at the base of the Aiguille du Midi cable car, at the foot of Mont Blanc. It offers great facilities which include a Spa by Nuxe and an indoor pool.
The hotel was formed by interconnecting two chalets, and the results are spectacular, with 102 rooms, a blissful 500m2 spa, restaurant, bar, ski shop and grocery shop.
The hotel is designed to make guests feel like it is home away from home and this is apparent as soon as you enter the lobby; there are all sorts of different alcoves to relax and enjoy a drink in. There is even a dedicated children’s’ area with giant beanbags, complimentary sweets and popcorn dispensers and an ‘all you can drink’ smoothie bar. Kids can also relax and play games or watch a movie. The lobby also has a self service library with mountain-related books, board games and DVDs and a music room.
The hotel’s signature restaurant serves locally inspired dishes and a daily buffet breakfast, whilst the Epicerie du Midi is a mini grocery store with a retro 50s American diner feel, where guests can enjoy homemade dishes based on traditional recipes which can either be eaten in or enjoyed as a take away.
The Nuxe spa offers a haven of relaxation to return to after a day skiing with a 15m x 6m indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi and three treatment rooms offering a range of treatments and massages.
The hotel also has a ski rental shop with equipment from the leading brands for all levels, clothing and accessories. Equipment hire can be booked in advance.

Dining
The hotel’s restaurant is called “Akashon”, meaning “surprise” in local dialect, and we really do recommend you try it out!
The creative maestro behind the menu is Chef Julien Binet, who has been officiating in the kitchen since the hotel opened in 2013. His enthusiasm and passion for food is apparent throughout the menu, with seasonal local products, refined flavours and classic local recipes revisited with a creative French twist.
The Chef specials change daily but some of their specialities include: locally produced reblochon cheese ‘en croute’ with cold cuts, salad and hay-smoked baby potatoes. Or how about the oven baked monkfish in sweet spices with parsnip pearl barley risotto or pan-roasted Simmental beef entrecote with a parmesan gnocchi timbale and summer truffle pata negra. One of the vegetarian options is the slow-cooked winter vegetables with lemon infused bulgur wheat and a honey vinaigrette and there’s also a delightful children’s menu.
The restaurant is open for dinner from 19:00 to 22:00. You can eat inside or outside on the terrace with fantastic views of the Aiguille du Midi.
Glacius says…
“Le Labrador is a rustic 3 star B&B with a wonderful restaurant adjacent to it. It suits clients who take skiing seriously and who don’t mind nipping into town for dinner. Small groups looking for great skiing, a cosy environment, and who don’t mind exploring the resort in the evening will do well staying here”
